Expect the Miracle
and the newest Proud Reader Photo
In posting my newest Proud Reader Photo, Mimi Drop from the L.A. area, it is important to me to celebrate the strength it can take merely to buy a novel about surviving sexual trauma.
This weekend, before a bookstore reading, I watched a woman who was in the store simply to pick up a book she had ordered. From afar, I saw her read the back cover of As Far as You Can Go Before You Have to Come Back, then put it down and pick it up several times before tucking it under her other book and pushing the short pile to the cashier.
I just wanted to hug her and say, "Expect the miracle."
